Research Workshop Guide
The JRRE, in line with its mandate to promote, guide, advise, and oversee all research projects and to enhance the capabilities of our fellows to competently engage in scientific research, will be holding an asynchronous Research Workshop. Starting from July 16, our fellows have been invited to enroll in an online learning module using Moodle This activity will encompass 4 weeks of guided learning using recorded video lectures of Dr. Geraldo Balaccua that the fellows can watch on demand during their free time. Assignments based on the learning objectives of the week will be given for them to be able to practice what they have learned from the material. This project aims for them to be able to formulate a research proposal that is feasible and relevant with the guidance of primarily their respective institution research coordinators and with the JRRE. The agenda of the workshop will be as follows:
Date | Topics | Output | |
---|---|---|---|
Week 1 | July 16 - 22, 2022 | Course Introduction Introduction to Good Clinical Practice The Research Process and Protocol Selecting the Research Topic and Formulating Research Objectives Search of Literature | Research Topic and Objectives Saved History of Literature Search 1-page study rationale citing lit |
Week 2 | July 23-29, 2022 | Study Designs Sampling and Sample Size Calculation Data Processing and Analysis | Research Methodology Capsule Protocol |

We encourage our first-year fellows to participate in the workshop and build on a topic that they will be likely to pursue to facilitate the creation of a research protocol for a category I paper which will be the required from them at the end of their first-year training. We also would like to remind that participation in this workshop is a requirement for JRRE clearance for our fellows upon their graduation before they may be allowed to take the subspecialty board examinations.
