Clinical Presentation: Esophageal stent placement is one of the treatment for malignant esophageal diseases even benign strictures. Stent migration was reported as common complication of stent placement. A 30 year old male who came in with vomiting, dysphagia and abdominal pain few hours prior. Patient is a known case of proximal esophageal stricture with colon interposition from previous caustic ingestion in 2006. He also underwent placement of covered metal stent done in 2021. On this current admission, imaging done showed findings of a displaced stent within the surgically interposed colon, with luminal narrowing and wall thickening on the proximal area and collapsed distal segment. He underwent unsuccessful endoscopic retrieval of migrated stent that was converted to endoscopic guided laparotomy with stent retrieval. Patient was discharged uneventful after. Esophageal stenting has improved the quality of life of patients both with malignant and benign strictures, but the complications such as migration may occur. This case shows us approaches in stent retrieval in selected patients.
