Background: Post anastomotic colonic strictures occur in 32% of cases following colorectal surgery. Standard management of colonic anastomotic stricture is performed endoscopically by repeated balloon dilation. Conventionally, SEMS placement is generally indicated as a bridge before surgery for obstructing colorectal cancers and as palliative treatment for malignant colorectal strictures.
Clinical Presentation: We present a case of 69-year old female, diagnosed with stage III sigmoid adenocarcinoma who underwent sigmoid resection with colostomy creation with subsequent colostomy removal after completion of Capecitabine chemotherapy, presented with abdominal pain and diarrhea followed by vomiting, inability to pass flatus and defecate.
Keywords: Self expandable metallic stent, colorectal, benign colonic stricture
