Significance: Experimental studies suggest that SARS-CoV-2 infects and replicates in the GIT. This study aims to determine the prevalence and clinicodemographic profile of patients with diarrhea in COVID patients and its association with disease outcome.

Methodology: This is a retrospective, cross-sectional study on the clinical characteristics of COVID patients admitted at a tertiary government hospital who presented with diarrhea. Mild, moderate, severe, and critical disease were included in the study.

Results: A total of 137 COVID-19 patients were included in the study and 66 (48.18%) experienced diarrhea. Only 28.79% of them have comorbidities, most of them having hypertension. Majority of patients with diarrhea were diagnosed with moderate COVID disease (33.33%). Patients with mild disease have 3 BM per day, patients with moderate disease have 4 BM per day, those with severe disease have 5 and critical patients have 4 BM per day. For the duration of diarrhea, mild disease have an average duration of 40 hours, moderate disease have an average duration of 43 hours, severe disease with an average of 64 hours and critical patients with diarrhea for an average of 51 hours. Majority have mushy consistency of stools. The presence of diarrhea has no significant association with the length of hospital stay (p-value= 0.9987) and outcome of patients (OR= 0.9987).

Conclusion: There is no significant difference among COVID patients with and without diarrhea in terms of length of hospital stay and mortality. There is a trend towards increasing number of bowel movements in more severe cases of COVID infection.
